Bringing Christian Bale back as the Batman in Man of Steel sequel.
Rumours are circulating that Christian Bale may make a return as Batman in the next Superman film. Here are my thoughts on this topic.
Firstly I'd like to say I am a huge fan of this idea, I don't want any more reboots, the Dark Knight trilogy was widely successful, the Green Lantern film whilst not as positively reviewed I believe captured the spirit of the source material.
Obviously bringing Bale back creates possible problems in the continuity, as Bruce Wayne retired and left the mantle of the bat to Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character Robin/John Blake. Now the film, and many others in future Batman and Justice League outings, could just be set in the huge time gap between The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, but I have a different suggestion.
The film has stated it draws inspiration from The Dark Knight Returns, which fits almost perfectly with the ending left in the Dark Knight Rises with a few small adjustments early in the new movie.
In order to bring Bruce Wayne back and to not beat around the bush for what is unavoidable, the film will need to recast the Joker. This may not be a popular decision but its a narrow viewed, closed minded idea to think DC will not try and use their most overrated villain. In my opinion anyway.
Drawing inspiration from The Batman Superman Movie (actually the three episodes from "The World's Finest" story arc of Season 2 of Superman: The Animated Series), the new film would be introducing Lex Luthor, capitalising on the obvious fear and panic created in the hearts and minds of the people after the battles in the first Man of Steel film, billions of dollars of collateral damage. Whilst also using Luthor to bring back the Joker, breaking him out of prison.
The film could take points from the death in the family story arc. Using the new Joker to "kill" Robin in an explosion, bringing Bruce back out of retirement.
This could also lead to a future Batman sequel where we find Robin survived the explosion but has developed hatred towards Bruce for not saving him and become the Red Hood.
Bringing Mr. Wayne back this way leads into the Dark Knight Returns part of the story as he may be more violent and aggressive. Prompting the government to request Superman to take down this dangerous vigilante.

DC Cinematic Universe
Using Man of Steel as a kick off point is genius, he was after all the first, if not taking the shadow or doc savage and the like, ever superhero, mirroring his real life inspiration of other superheroes.
But no matter how much DC would like to play catch up with their main rivals I would hold back on a justice league film for now. The fans have waited this long for this film, they will wait a little longer for it to be right.
DC need to set up their heroes with cameos, stand alone films, this may seem like simply copying the marvel cinematic universe, but comic companies have copied each other for years, plus going the opposite way for the sake of being different isn't exactly the right move. It may be too unbelievable to simply throw the other members of the league in a film with no pre-introduction and I personally wouldn't want a film of origins even if they were simple flashbacks.
We have introduced Superman, and in the new crossover between him and Batman(who I would cast Karl Urban as) we could easily have some of the origin of the new batman without telling a full origin story, similar to in the 1989 batman film, but I would give everyone else an origin film as they have never been told on a cinema screen before.
Wonder Woman(who I would cast Gemma Arterton as) and Aquaman(who I would cast Luke Evans as) are both comparable to marvels Thor as far as making a film goes. The last Green Lantern film was cast near perfectly in my opinion but after how it turned out a reboot is needed I would cast Ryan Gosling as the new Hal Jordan.
As for the film of The Flash(who I would cast Joel Kinnaman as) a similar type of movie to the man of steel with its non linear style would be perfect for the scarlet speedster has he slips to other memories during his velocity.
As for the Martian Manhunter(who I would cast as Harry Lennix, which I will get to in a minute) could possibly make one of the greatest movies or the worst so it would be up to DC's discretion to make a stand alone film or simply a cameo or 2, using manhunter as the nick fury of the DC cinematic universe, cameoing in nearly all the other films, keeping tabs on other super powered beings in the universe could be used as the vehicle to create the justice league, maybe he knows "something" is coming and is scouting for help in order to protect his new adoptive home.
Now Lennix may seem an odd choice as J'onn J'onzz, as he played General Swanwick in Man of Steel and didn't lift a super powered finger to help in the ensuing chaos during the fight with Zod, but it could be said he was simply testing Superman, in order to see if he was ready to help with an on coming threat.
This threat could be anything but I would personally say Darkseid for the first Justice League movie, then Brainiac for the second JL, seeing the league's ranks swell due to a world wide invasion. Doomsday would be my pick for the 3rd as we would see the awe inspiring scene of wave after wave of the league left broken on the ground and Superman being the last line of defense.
Bringing the panels of the death of superman storyline to life would be the single biggest moments in superhero cinema history. Whilst also leaving the option of ending the cinematic universe on a huge note or teasing superman waking up in an after credits scene very Nolan-ish.
